Suzuki’s flagship DF300 is a showcase of Suzuki’s advanced technologies that provide the user with the ultimate in power, performance, and ease of use, along with low emissions and excellent fuel economy.
The three-star label identifies engines that meet the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) 2008 exhaust emission standards.
CARB 2008 (three-star) represents 65% lower emissions than the EPA 2006 standards.
Suzuki builds in convenient features that add to the quality of your boating experience. Among those features are dual engine flush ports for easy flushing of the cooling system, a tilt limit switch to prevent the motor from tilting past a preset limit, and three-piece covers that offer easy access to the engine for routine maintenance.
The DF300 incorporates a number of features that help to guard the outboard against exposure to the elements. Suzuki Anti-Corrosion Finish is specially formulated to protect parts of the aluminum exterior that are constantly exposed to saltwater. Dual engine flush ports make flushing of the engine as easy as possible. Other features that increase the DF300’s durability include forged pistons treated with an Alumite coating for increased heat resistance and a resin coating on the piston skirt for improved resistance to wear and friction reduction, and a water-cooled voltage regulator in the outboard’s electrical system.
Suzuki's engine management system controls every aspect of the DF300's engines performance. It also allows for a much more accurate control of the operation of the outboard and minimizes human error. Today's outboards are no longer purely mechanical, performance has improved dramatically by the incorporation of computer technology. The Suzuki engine management system controls the engine ignition system and provides the ideal fuel supply under all operating conditions making adjustments for engine wear and ensuring optimum performance throughout the life of the motor. It also enables engine safeguards to be incorporated such as over rev limiter, oil change reminder system and enables servicing to be simplified by using a plug-in diagnostic programme on a lap top computer to interrogate the inbuilt engine management module.
The DF300 has a lower unit that utilizes a sleek, hydrodynamic design to reduce drag created as the outboard moves through the water. This advanced design contributes to faster acceleration and increased speed.
A large air induction port contributes to the DF300’s high power output by maximizing airflow into the engine. Increased airflow results in greater low- to mid-range torque to provide the wide powerband that outboards need. It also includes a water separator that aids in keeping water out of the electronic throttle body, and a heat shield to keep intake air as cool as possible.
Getting air to flow smoothly into the engine is an efficient way to increase power output, that’s why the DF300 is fitted with long intake pipes in an inline layout, specially tuned to keep airflow smooth.
Suzuki pioneered the use of Multi Point Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection in four-stroke outboards with the introduction of the award winning DF70 and DF60. Found on all models from the DF40 and up, the system utilizes an ECM (Engine Control Module) that constantly monitors crucial data in real time, from a comprehensive network of critically placed sensors. Using this data the ECM instantly calculates the optimum amount of fuel to be injected at high pressure into the cylinders by the Multi Point Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection system. The system delivers lower fuel consumption, reduced exhaust emissions, smoother starts, crisper acceleration, smoother performance, and maximum efficiency.
Suzuki pioneered the use of the offset driveshaft with the original DF90. Effective at reducing the size of the outboard it also moves the outboard’s center of gravity forward for better weight distribution. Found on all models from the New Generation DF70 and greater, it also provides improvements in power performance, balance, and vibration reduction.
Suzuki’s 4-stroke technology delivers clean, efficient operation that conforms to the Ultra-Low Emissions 3-Star rating from the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
The DF300 takes advantage of many of the same sophisticated technologies proven in our other V-6 4-sroke outboards. Performance enhancing features such as dual overhead cam (DOHC) powerhead with 4-valves per cylinder, Suzuki’s Variable Valve Timing (VVT), and multi-point electronic fuel injection that make DF300 the most powerful 4-stroke outboard in the industry, and other features like a narrow 55° V-block design, offset driveshaft, and two-stage gear reduction make DF300 compact and sleek.
At idle, only the tell tale water jet will assure you that the motor is running. Very low noise allows you to talk normally to your passengers or crew when out on the water. Add to this very little engine vibration and you have peace and quiet to go along with a great day on the lake.
With the Suzuki Easy Start system all you do is turn the key and release, the starter does the rest, staying engaged until the engine starts. The system also offers smoother and improved starts, more efficient combustion, and greater fuel economy.
With Suzuki’s precision control, operating an outboard has never been easier. Only available with the DF300, this drive-by-wire throttle and shift system puts unprecedented power at the boater’s fingertips while eliminating the friction and resistance often associated with mechanical control cables. Using a sophisticated computer-based control system, it delivers precision throttle control and instantaneous, decisive shifting that improves operator confidence, especially in the low rpm range and in close quarters maneuvering. A sophisticated control panel provides easy access to motor control functions while built-in systems help protect the engine and drive against damage due to mishandling. The system can be configured with single or twin controls for single, twin, or triple engine configurations and its design and simple wiring make installation and adjustment quick and easy.
Suzuki uses its own, original Suzuki Anti-Corrosion Finish to guard the outboard against the harmful effects of corrosion. This special formula is applied directly to the outboard’s aluminum surface to provide maximum bonding of the finish to the alloy surface. Layered on top are an epoxy, primer undercoat, black metallic finish, and clear acrylic resin finish that together, form an effective treatment against corrosion.
The DF300 incorporates Suzuki’s advanced Variable Valve Timing (VVT). VVT is used to alter intake timing with the camshaft to optimize camshaft timing for low to mid-range operation. Combined with the outboard’s aggressive cam profile VVT delivers greater low to mid-range torque for powerful acceleration.
